Jackie Chan confirms he'll be in 'The Expendables 3'
Remember a few months ago when everybody thought Jackie Chan was retiring? Well, no. That wasn't the case. He was merely pulling back on the throttle a little bit, making his upcoming film Chinese Zodiac the last in which he'd push his nearly 60-year old bones to the literal breaking point. Instead, he'd focus on less physically demanding material like The Karate Kid, Rush Hour, and apparently The Expendables 3.
The addition of Chan into the mix of vintage action heroes always seemed like a no-brainer, and now we learned Stallone had been trying to make it happen for some time....
Chan: "Sly had invited me to be in Expendables 2 but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn’t make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."
Well, if anybody has the clout to politic for a major part, it's Chan. At Comic-Con this past summer, Chan talked quite openly about his desire to be a part of The Expendables 3, also revealing that he had been approached to play a bad guy in The Expendables 2, but turned it down. Probably a wise move.
So what else does he have lined up for next year? A Hollywood buddy film titled Skip Tracer, which is being looked at by Chris Tucker and may end up as Rush Hour 4, this despite Chan recently stating he likes that franchise the least of all. Please no. Move on! Thankfully, he's also got Police Story 2013 coming up, and another action comedy from screenwriter Jay Longino.[Yahoo!]
