New photos and poster for 'The Place Beyond the Pines'

A handful of new photos have been released for Derek Cianfrance's The Place Beyond the Pines, his follow-up to the tragic relationship drama Blue Valentine. Emerging out of Toronto with incredibly strong critical reviews, the story follows the multi-generational rivalry between a motorcycle racer-turned bank robber(Ryan Gosling) and an ambitious cop(Bradley Cooper).

It's Cooper who is featured in two of these three newly released images, and I'm betting he'll be the focus following on the success of Silver Linings Playbook. But this is a very different sort of role for him, and if Blue Valentine is any indication this is going to be a tough and emotionally draining story. Along with the new photos comes a fairly simple teaser poster, which hints at the stormy and turbulent ride these characters are about to experience.

The Place Beyond the Pines opens in limited release on March 29th.
