You might remember a couple of years ago when Marvel was looking for someone to wear the star-spangled outfit of Captain America, they once had their eyes firmly set on John Krasinski for the role. Well, obviously that never panned out, but today brings a bunch of new casting news for Guardians of the Galaxy that says he may still be very much in their plans.
According to CBM, Marvel are "still high" on Krasinski, only now for the sought after role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in the upcoming superhero film. There have been so many names bandied about for the last few days that it's hard to tell where anything is at this point. Jim Strugess and Zachary Levi were said to be the finalists, but that was before Michael Rosenbaum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt entered the picture. Levitt seems to have the leg up, if we're to believe Jeff Sneider over at Variety, so this whole Krasinski thing could be irrelevant by now. Krasinski can currently be seen in the very un-comic book movie Promised Land opposite Matt Damon. I'd rather see Damon as Star-Lord, honestly.

Marvel is apparently looking to update Drax's origin a little bit, but it's unclear exactly how. The team is essentially made up of folks who have a personal beef with Thanos, and Drax was created specifically to kill the future Avengers villain.
I have to believe if Marvel can get Gordon-Levitt, he's the one they'll put the most energy into.
