Vintage comedy trailer for 'The Canyons' with Lindsay Lohan
Paul Schrader seems to be doing his best to keep us in the dark about his Kickstarter-funded film, The Canyons. So far we've seen a pair of trailers for it, both done up in varying styles, from grindhouse to retro B-movie, and now another one has been released in the style of a 1930s comedy. What's the deal?
I've speculated that it's probably not a very exciting movie, and thus extremely tough to market. Basically it looks like Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen having a lot of really flat conversations over the telephone, but it's supposedly a sexual thriller dealing with themes of obsession and ambition amongst a group of L.A. youths. All things that should be right in the wheelhouse of writer Bret Easton Ellis(The Rules of Attraction, American Psycho), so maybe there's a lot more to this than meets the eye.
According to the film's Facebook page, this is the last of the parody trailers, and now the finished product is going to be shown to distributors. How about squeezing it onto the schedule at Sundance, please?
