Jai Courtney joins 'Divergent' with Shailene Woodley

The career of Jai Courtney has been a fast-moving locomotive over the last few months, coming a long way from a co-starring role in Spartacus: Blood and Sand. He's already starred opposite Tom Cruise and Bruce Willis in a pair of franchise films, and now he's just landed another one, joining Shailene Woodley in the YA adaptation, Divergent.

Based on the first book in Veronica Roth's series, the story is set in a future version of America where society has been divided into five ideological factions: Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Woodley plays Beatrice "Tris" Prior, who at the age of 16 must make a decision which could shift the balance of power forever. Courtney will play Eric, the leader of the Dauntless faction.

Co-starring Kate Winslet, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, and Zoe Kravitz with Neil Burger directing, Divergent hits theaters on March 21st 2014.
