Possible 'Veronica Mars' movie plot details revealed
It's an exciting time to be a Veronica Mars fan, and now that they've shown their ultimate loyalty by helping fund a $2M Kickstarter campaign (It's now well above $3M) to produce a new film, potential plot details are beginning to emerge. The latest print issue of Entertainment Weekly features a rapidly-prepared article on what show creator Rob Thomas has planned for Veronica and the residents of Neptune, and not surprisingly it may have to do with murder. Possible spoilers are below, so please consider yourself warned!
Thomas has said on the Kickstarter page that the film will take place 10 years since the season three finale, and in that time Veronica hasn't taken a single case. Something big draws her back to Neptune, California, and it's something much bigger than her 10-year high school reunion. EW says Veronica's ex, Logan (Jason Dohring), will seek her aid in investigating the murder of his pop star girlfriend, a crime for which he's the primary suspect. Veronica left Hearst and went on to get her bachelor's at Stanford, and then a law degree from Columbia. So she's been plenty busy, and should be more equipped than ever to use the legal system to her best advantage, something she always had a knack for.
Thomas and star Kristen Bell hope to begin filming in June, and the plan is to bring back as many cast members as possible, assuming their schedules allow it. Assuming everything works out, debuting some footage at San Diego Comic-Con this summer isn't out of the question. Warner Bros. Digital Entertainment will market and distribute the film in 2014.
