Tops at the Box Office: 'Oz' remains powerful, while 'Burt Wonderstone' is hardly magical

1. Oz the Great and Powerful- $42.2M/$145M
After two weeks, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful has managed to recoup its pricey $200M budget worldwide, but it's pretty obvious at this stage that it won't come close to matching the $1B haul of Alice in Wonderland. Still, with only a 46% drop from last week, and not much in the way of comparable family entertainment, the film will likely be sticking around for awhile.
2. The Call- $17.1M
Far surpassing expectations was Halle Berry's The Call, which looked like it was being dumped on a nondescript March weekend for a reason. But Sony, along with WWE Studios, smartly played up the action elements of the film, which appealed to the pro wrestling fanbase. At the same time, Berry enthusiastically pushed for the film during the press rounds, while also appearing in targeted ads during WWE programing.  It was a smart decision on her part, as it's her most successful leading role since 2006's X-men: The Last Stand.
3. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone- $10.3M
Opening at over 3100 theaters and destined to vanish into thin air rather quickly, 'Burt Wonderstone' seemed like a sure-fire hit with the pairing of Steve Carell and Jim Carrey. But the star-studded cast wasn't enough to escape that outdated feeling brought on by the deeply unfunny trailers. Audiences didn't take to the film, either, saddling it with a 'C+' Cinemascore and securing Warner Bros. yet another high-profile bomb in 2013.
4. Jack the Giant Slayer- $6.2M/$53.9M
5. Identity Thief- $4.5M/$123.7M
6. Snitch- $3.5M/$37.25M
Holding on strong after a rough start, and is now a decent mid-level success.
7. 21 & Over- $2.6M/$21.8M
8. Silver Linings Playbook- $2.58/$124.6M
9. Safe Haven- $2.5M/$66.95M
10. Escape from Planet Earth- $2.3M/$52.1M

Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers got off to a strong start, earning $270K at just three locations. The latest animated gem from Studio Ghibli, From Up on Poppy Hill, had just two sites and brought in $55K, while the Elle Fanning-led Ginger & Rosa earned $45K at just three locations.
