First official looks like at Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'
Not long after Jamie Foxx was announced as the villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, he revealed that this version of Max Dillon was very different than in the comics. Rather than a hardened criminal, his Electro was a lonely man ignored by everybody in his life....
Foxx: "What you’ll see is that, for his whole life, no one is talking to him. People have stolen his ideas at the big company. He’s a nobody. At a certain point, Spider-Man bumps into him and says, ‘You’re my guy. You’re my ears and eyes on the street.’ Then he says his name, [Max] and no one has ever said [Max] Dillon’s name. He goes, 'Wow' and, when Spider-Man leaves, he sort of thinks that, 'I am Spider-Man’s partner!' He’s cutting out Spider-Man’s face and pasting it on all his boards..."
Just days after eye-catching set photos emerged of Foxx's impressive transformation to play Electro, Marc Webb has now revealed the first official image, and it shows that the changes Fox undergoes stretch beyond a little make-up and a cool new outfit. The shot shows what appears to be Max Dillon before he gains his superhuman abilities, and as we see in the background, the little attention Spider-Man showed him may have caused an obsession.
It was quite a coup when Webb managed to get Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) for the role of Harry Osborn, Peter Parker's buddy and son of the villainous Norman Osborn, who we know will be portrayed by Chris Cooper. DeHaan, who can currently be seen in The Place Beyond the Pines, has tweeted the first shot of himself as Osborn, staring rather intensely at someone off-screen. Is it perhaps Parker and Gwen Stacy, hinting at the expected love triangle? Whoever he's glaring at, DeHaan's take on Osborn promises to be a very different one than James Franco's.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens on May 2nd 2014.
