Teaser for the newly-announced 'Ratchet & Clank' 3D animated film

Sony surprisingly announced today that a feature 3D-animated film based on the hit Ratchet & Clank video games is in the works, with plans for bringing it to theaters in 2015. But what may be the biggest shock of all is that they're far enough along to provide a brief teaser. Sony, who has published every game in the sci-fi advenure series, will be teaming up with Rainmaker Entertainment, the producers behind Escape from Planet Earth. Hopefully this will be much better than that turned out to be.

The long-running franchise follows the exploits of a anthropomorphic mechanic named Ratchet, and his sentient robot buddy Clank, as they fight evil across the universe. TJ Fixman, a senior writer over at Insomniac Games who mastermind behind the last few games, will pen the screenplay. Production is already underway, reuniting the game's principle voice cast of James A. Taylor as Ratchet, David Kaye as Clank and Jim Ward as Qwark.

There are nearly a dozen Ratchet & Clank games out there, so there's no reason why Sony can't make this a semi-regular thing.  Check out the teaser below....
