First trailer and poster for 'Baggage Claim' starring Paula Patton

In the wake of Think Like a Man's success, a number of studios felt confident enough to move forward many of the "urban" romantic comedies that had been stuck in development quicksand for awhile. One of those was Fox Searchlight's adaptation of David E. Talbert's Baggage Claim, a romantic comedy which he would write and direct based on his own 2005 novel. With the film set to debut during a crowded fall season, the first trailer has been released.

Packed with cheesy, on-the-nose lines like "My relationships have never been cleared for take-off", the film follows...wait for it...a flight attendant played by Paula Patton who is one of those gorgeous women who can't find a man to save her life. Determined to get engaged within 30 days before her sister's wedding, she jet sets around the globe meeting random men in hopes of finding Mr. Right. The cast is certainly talented, with Adam Brody, Djimon Hounsou, Taye Diggs, Derek Luke, and Boris Kodjoe making up many of her potential paramours. Patton is also a beautiful, likable presence, but this looks like something that should be premiering on TV One, not in theaters where folks have to actually pay to see it.

Baggage Claim takes off on September 27th.
