Sure Shots: Jesse Eisenberg; Dominic Cooper; Keanu Reeves

* As the invasion of Norwegian filmmakers in America continues, one of the most promising was announced last year when Joachim Trier (Oslo, August 31st) came aboard to write and direct Louder than Bombs, a Rashomon-style drama that would serve as his English-language debut. As production gears up for this fall, Jesse Eisenberg, the great Isabelle Huppert, and Gabriel Byrne are the first to join the cast. The story "revolves around the character of a famous, late war photographer played by Huppert. On the eve of a retrospective of work, some three years after her untimely death, her husband and two sons discover an unsettling secret from her past." [Screen Daily]

* Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter may not have panned out so well for Dominic Cooper, but he's not letting that stop him from sinking his teeth into another film on the bloodsucking creatures. He'll join Luke Evans in Universal's Dracula reboot, which is essentially an origin story on the real life Prince Vlad, the inspiration for the Bram Stoker novel. Cooper's role is unknown at this point, but is it possible he could be Dracula's nemesis, Van Helsing? Probably not, but you never know! Gary Shore is directing, with production to begin later this year. [Variety]

* It's been a busy year for Keanu Reeves, although most probably have been wondering what the heck he's been up to. He's been finishing up his directorial debut, Man of Tai Chi, and has 47 Ronin due to come out at some point. Currently seen in the indie drama Generation Um, Reeves has now added a new film to his slate, taking the title role in John Wick. Co-directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, the film centers on "a former hitman whose killer instincts are reawakened after a thug steals his 1969 Ford Mustang and in the process kills the dog given to him by his late wife. Wick tracks the man to New York, where the thug’s father, a crime boss, puts a bounty on his head.” Reeves is set to make a big comeback, recently signing on to star in the sci-fi film, Passengers, opposite Reese Witherspoon.
