Interview: 'We Steal Secrets' director Alex Gibney talks WikiLeaks, Bradley Manning, and the Obama Administration


When Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney makes a new movie, the world takes notice. He frequently changes the debate on whatever subject he's tackling, whether it's the war on terror with Taxi to the Dark Side, or the economic crisis with Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. Now he's turning his laser focus on Julian Assange and imprisoned whistle-blower Bradley Manning in We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks. Not only does he go into the history of the information-gathering organization, but explores the personal motivations that drove Assange and Manning to do the things they've done.

I had a chance to sit down and talk with Gibney about the film; his personal thoughts on Assange; Bradley Manning's treatment by the government; and the Obama Administration's attitude towards the press and whistle-blowers. You can listen to my interview below...
