New clip from Sebastian Silva's 'Magic Magic' with Juno Temple and Michael Cera

While many were wondering what the heck Michael Cera's been doing on the big screen for the last couple of years, the answer could be found at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Cera collaborated with director Sebastian Silva on two films that, while on the surface appear completely different, play out as thematic siblings. One was the surreal road trip comedy Crystal Fairy, and the other was the disturbing psycho-thriller, Magic Magic.

Crystal Fairy will hit theaters this July, and was just part of my 11 Indie Films to Watch, but Magic Magic is set to roll into Cannes in just a few days. As such, a new clip has emerged to give you a hint of the creepy tone at play, and provide a look at the fractured lead performance by Juno Temple. She plays Alicia, an American on vacation in Chile with her best friend (Emily Browning) and a handful of others she's doesn't really know all that well. Cera plays another American, a boorish sort whose insecurities mask something potentially darker. It's a great role for him, but Temple is absolutely brilliant, and this clip shows the beginnings of her character unraveling.

There's no date for Magic Magic yet, but you can check out my review of it here, and here for my review of Crystal Fairy. I also had the pleasure of interviewing Cera and Silva about both films, which you can listen to here.
