New posters for 'I, Frankenstein', 'Now You See Me', 'The Lone Ranger', and more
Most people may not recognize the name Kevin Grevioux, but he's been a staple of the film and comic book world for awhile. Most closely affiliated with the Underworld franchise, where he played the werewolf Raze as well penned a couple of the screenplays, he also served as a writer on Marvel's New Warriors comic for a time. His most recent graphic novel, I, Frankenstein, is being brought to the big screen courtesy of writer/director (Tomorrow, when the War Began), and now the first motion poster for it is here. Set in a dystopic present, Aaron Eckhart stars as Victor Frankenstein's creation, Adam, who is stuck in the middle of a war between two immortal clans. Eckhart certainly makes for the most handsome version of Frankenstein ever, although I think he could use a few more bolts in his neck. Opening on January 24th 2014, the film co-star Bill Nighy, Mirando Otto, Jai Courtney, and Yvonne Strahovski.
It's a day for motion posters as a new one has also been released for Now You See Me, and it absolutely radiates with the brilliance one would expect from Morgan Freeman. In the illusionist heist film directed by Louis Leterrier, Freeman plays Thaddeus Bradley, a debunker of magicians and con men who sets his sights on the criminal activities of the Four Horsemen. Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, and Melanie Laurent co-star when the film opens on May 31st.
Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer do their best to not stare at Helena Bonham Carter's heaving cleavage in the latest international poster for The Lone Ranger. Directed by Gore Verbinski, the film is largely told from the perspective of Native American sidekick Tonto (Depp) as he recounts the story of gunslinger John Reid's transformation into the famous wild west hero. The Lone Ranger opens on July 3rd.
"The Best Never Rest" but they do make some pretty tired one-sheets. The latest dull poster for Red 2 brings together the entire "retired extremely dangerous" gang, including new additions Anthony Hopkins, Lee Byung-hun, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Bruce Willis is back as ex-Black Ops agent Frank Moses, who finds himself the target of friends and foes alike when the CIA targets him for termination. Isn't that the plot of the last film?Oh wait, he's also looking for a nuclear device of some sort. Well that part of it is new, at least. Red 2 also stars Helen Mirren, Mary Louis Parker, and John Malkovich, hitting theaters on July 19th.
And the Starship Enterprise is screwed yet again in the latest poster for Star Trek Into Darkness. J.J. Abrams' hotly-anticipated sequel to the hit 2009 film has already opened overseas, so if you're interesting in having everything spoiled for you, go seek out some of the early reviews. Probably the biggest current buzz about it has been the beef film critics currently have with Paramount for screening the film on Wednesday the 15th at 9pm, the same time day it opens. The studio's official reasoning is to help maintain the plot's secrecy, which would have more merit if the larger trades hadn't already seen it. Whatever. Our review will be up early Thursday morning.
