Sure Shots: Joe Johnston; 'Insurgent'; John Travolta

* Remember Gotti? The biopic based on the infamous mobster John Gotti Sr. has been in a holding pattern for quite awhile due to a lack of funding, but now as it heads to Cannes to try and secure foreign distribution (Relativity Media has the U.S.), a director has been locked in place as Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger) has come aboard. The film stars John Travolta and is based on a story by John Gotti Jr., which is said to look into his double life as the head of a crime organization and a family man.

* Summit Entertainment's adaptation of Veronica Roth's YA novel Divergent doesn't come out until next year, but they're already setting the stage for the sequel. They've hired Jane Got a Gun scribe Brian Duffield to pen the script for Insurgent, which continues the story of divergent Beatris "Tris" Prior (Shailene Woodley) as she deals with the ramifications of her decisions. War looms on the horizon as the five ideological factions are more at odds than ever. Divergent hits theaters on March 21st 2014.

* As John Travolta gears up for Gotti, he's also adding another project to his schedule in The Forger. Directed by Emmy-winner Philip Martin (Prime Suspect) and written by Richard D’Ovidio (The Call), the boilerplate story follows a petty thief  and former art prodigy who buys his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son, only to be forced into one last job by the crime syndicate who financed his release.
