Anna Kendrick Is Cinderella In Rob Marshall's 'Into The Woods'

He may have diverted off his usual course with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, but Rob Marshall is getting back to what he knows best. The Chicago, Nine, and Memoirs of a Geisha director is planning his next musical adaptation, Into the Woods, and he's got an all-star cast lined up. With Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, James Corden, Tracy Ullman, Christine Baranski and Emily Blunt already set for the fairy tale film, Marshall has added one more big name to the list, plus another that will make Les Miserables fans happy.

THR reports that Anna Kendrick has joined the film, which follows The Baker  and his wife who venture into the woods to confront a witch and lift the curse that has left them unable to have children. Along the way they'll run into a number of fairy tale characters such as the big bad wolf, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and apparently Cinderella as that's Kendrick's role. Also joining the cast is Daniel Huttlestone, who many will remember as the feisty kid Gavroche in Tom Hooper's Les Miserables. He'll be taking on the role of Jack.

Kendrick recently led Pitch Perfect to be a surprising hit, and obviously she can bust out a tune if called upon. Into the Woods begins filming soon for release next year.
