New Images and Plot Details From 'How To Train Your Dragon 2'

Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon was more than just one of the studio's biggest successes, it put them right up there with Pixar in terms of storytelling. They haven't necessarily stayed on that level in the three years since, but that may turn around again when How to Train Your Dragon 2 opens next summer.  License! Global (via Bleeding Cool) have released new looks at older versions of Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and Astrid (America Ferrera) in the film, along with an updated plot synopsis....

The thrilling second chapter of the epic "How to Train Your Dragon" trilogy brings back the fantastical world of Hiccup and Toothless five years later. While Astrid, Snoutlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island's new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace.

Dean DeBlois is directing this one solo, and it looks like a few new characters are being brought in, as well.  Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is voicing a new villain, with Gerard Butler, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Kristen Wiig, Craig Ferguson, and Jonah Hill lending their voices once again. How to Train Your Dragon 2 flies into theaters on June 20th 2014.
