Julianne Moore Lines Up 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay'

You have to give the brass at Lionsgate credit for shooting the moon when it comes to snagging top notch talent for The Hunger Games. The novels by Suzanne Collins are so popular that they probably could have just just phoned it in on casting, but with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, and Jeffrey Wright all sticking around for the long haul, it shows a real commitment to making this a quality franchise in every respect. And now you can add an Oscar-nominated actress into the mix.

Deadline reports that Julianne Moore is being eyed to play Alma Coin in the two-part finale, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. Coin is the leader of District 13, and helps Katniss lead a rebellion against the Capitol, and that's pretty much all that can be said without going into spoiler territory. But it's definitely a major role, one that becomes even more important along the way.

The film is being written by Danny Strong, the writer of Game Change, in which Moore won an Emmy for her performance as Sarah Palin.  Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay's two chapters arrive on November 21st 2014 and November 20th 2015.
