'The Muppets' Sequel Gets Retitled; 'Planes' Follow-Up, 'Into the Woods', and More Dated

Walt Disney has been busy firming up their schedule for the next few years, with the biggest development that they've set dates for two unknown Marvel projects. Along with that they've dropped a bunch of other minor announcements, so let's just jump right into them, starting with another of the Mouse House's popular franchises...

The Muppets sequel has been retitled from the clunky The Muppets...Again to now being called Muppets Most Wanted. Frankly, both titles are pretty terrible, and will make some lucky headline writer very happy if the movie bombs. It does make sense, though, considering the story involves an international caper with human stars Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais, and Ty Burrell. March 21st 2014 is when it should be hitting theaters.

Disney's Cars spinoff, Planes, doesn't take flight until August 9th, but the sequel, Planes: Fire & Rescue, has already been slated for July 18th 2014 in 3D. At this pace the trilogy should wrap up in the following year.

Brad Bird's Tomorrowland has been bumped up a few days to December 14th 2014. The film stars George Clooney and Hugh Laurie, and centers on a teenage girl, a middle-aged genius, and a lifelike girl robot who attempt to unravel the mystery of Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternate dimension.

Rob Marshall's star-studded musical adaptation Into the Woods has been dated for Christmas Day 2014. The film stars Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep,  Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Tracy Ullmna, and Christine Baranski.

There's no confirmed cast yet for the adaptation of The Hundred-Foot Journey, other than a rumor of Helen Mirren joining, but with Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey producing, Disney isn't wasting any time in getting things moving. The culinary drama has been given an August 8th 2014 release date, meaning we should start hearing some concrete news soon. The story centers on a young Indian boy whose family owns a restaurant 100 feet away from a 3 Michelin-star rated restaurant in France, owned by an eccentric, famous chef.
