New Trailer for Surfing Thriller 'Drift' Starring Sam Worthington
A new trailer has hit for the surfing drama Drift starring Sam Worthington, Myles Pollard, and Xavier Samuel. Shot in West Australia and set in the 1970s, the story centers on two brothers and surfing legends, who start their own surf shop out of their van. But as they try to expand the business, they get mixed up with a violent gang of bikers who threaten to ruin everything. This is a shorter, sleeker version of the trailer released last year, and it does a much better job of combining the laid back surfer elements with the side resembling more of a traditional thriller. There are a lot of thematic similarities between this and Oliver Stone's Savages, but this has a leg up thanks to some beautiful imagery of the Australian surf.
Directed by Ben Nott and Morgan O’Neill (The Factory), Drift finds the perfect wave on August 2nd.

PLOT: After their mother escapes from Sydney to Margaret River in the 1970′s, the two Kelly brothers spend their youth searching for the perfect wave. Out of necessity the family launch a backyard surf business – re-thinking board design, crafting homemade wetsuits and selling merchandise out of their van. Battling big waves, small town conservatism and criminals, the brothers give rise to a global brand. A story of passion, corruption, friendship and loyalty, deadly addictions and fractured relationships, DRIFT tells a tale of courage and the will to survive at all odds.
