Russian Teaser For 'The Counselor' Starring Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, and Javier Bardem

Let's face it, any crime film that boasts the first original screenplay by author Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men) is going to be worth getting excited over all on its own, but when you throw in a cast that includes Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, and Penelope Cruz, then that's a recipe that could make The Counselor truly remarkable. And that's what the slick new teaser for the film promises, along with what looks like the most energetic work from Ridley Scott in quite some time.

The teaser is unfortunately in Russian for now, with hopefully an English one to come shortly, but that can't hide the flashy veneer and slickly shot action that looks more like something Tony Scott would have done. The film centers on a lawyer who gets involved in the drug trade, and is totally unprepared to deal with the criminal underworld. You get flashes of the grit inherent in McCarthy's crime novels, along with glimpses of the cast from a sensuous Cameron Diaz to Javier Bardem sporting yet another wild haircut.

Movies like this don't usually make waves at the Oscars, but this might be an exception. Also starring Dean Norris, Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo, Natalie Dormer and Goran Visnjic, The Counselor opens on October 25th. We'll update with an English version when available.
