Sandra Bullock Won't Terrorize 'Annie' After All

It may be a hard knock life for Annie, but it won't be because of Sandra Bullock.  A week ago Bullock entered talks to play cruel orphanage matron Miss Hannigan in Will Smith and Jay-Z's adaptation of the Broadway musical, which stars Quvenzhane Wallis as the titular spunky orphan. But now The Wrap reports that negotiations for a deal have fallen through.

This is interesting only because Sony has made two attempts to nab Bullock for the role. She had passed on it before, only to be approached a second time, which is when the talks were made public. Other top actresses are said to be in producers' sights for the role, so it likely won't be long before a replacement is named. Jamie Foxx is still on board to play Benjamin Stacks, a version of Daddy Warbucks, with Will Gluck (Easy A) directing.

Annie is due to open on Christmas Day 2014.
