'Interstellar' Adds David Oyelowo; Vanessa Hudgens in 'The Kitchen Sink'; Wes Bentley for 'Welcome to Me'
* So Christopher Nolan doesn't even take a break on his birthday? While he was downing his birthday cake, the cast of his upcoming sci-fi film Interstellar just expanded by two. David Oyelowo (The Paperboy) and David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas) joined the star-studded project, which already has Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothee Chalamet and Topher Grace starring. No details on their roles, of course, but we know the film has to do with explorers on a heroic journey through wormholes or something. Interstellar opens on November 7th 2014, and you can find Oyelowo next month in Lee Daniels' The Butler. [TheWrap]
* Rob Pickering's The Kitchen Sink lives by its title by cramming multiple genres together into a weird sci-fi/horror mash-up, and it looks like the cast will also be something of a jumble. Vanessa Hudgens is in early talks to join the film, with Denis Leary also coming board the film which has teens teaming up with vampires and zombies to stop an alien invasion. Hudgens would play a popular girl in the neighborhood, while Leary is an unfriendly rich guy. Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis (watch for her in Breathe In), Josh Fadem, and Chris Zylka co-star.
* Kristen Wiig is going out of her way to make sure Welcome to Me isn't completely ignored the way Imogene has been. She's rounded up an impressive ensemble for the indie comedy, which has her as a woman with personality disorder who creates a cable access TV show about her life. With Tim Robbins, Linda Cardellini, and Jennifer Jason Leigh already on board, the cast has been filled out with the additions of Wes Bentley, James Marsden, Alan Tudyk, and Joan Cusack. Bentley's having a heck of a week as he recently joined Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, and is coming off the highly-successful The Hunger Games. Marsden can be seen later this week in 2 Guns opposite Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington.
