First Trailer and Poster for 'Seventh Son' Starring Jeff Bridges

Ever since winning an Oscar for Crazy Heart, Jeff Bridges has been content to take on one outlandish role after another because, why not? So we've seen him as a digital Yoda in Tron: Legacy, this summer he'll play an undead gunslinger in RIPD, and next year he's a magical knight in Seventh Son, for which the first trailer has just been released.

Based on Joseph Delaney's The Wardstone Chronicles novels, Seventh Son is directed by Sergei Bodrov (Mongol) and stars Ben Barnes as Tom Ward, the "seventh son of a seventh son", who becomes the apprentice of the powerful Master Gregory (Bridges), and learns to use his powers to fight against the dark witch, Mother Malkin, played by Julianne Moore. It's tough to get a gauge on whether or not this one will be  Bridges' campy performance aside, the tone for this one appears pretty dark, and it may be able to stand up to The Hunger Games in terms of action.

It's a little distressing that the release date keeps getting bumped, though, and now we can expect to see Seventh Son open on January 17th. Not exactly the most impressing date. Kit Harington, Alicia Vikander, Djimon Hounsou, Olivia Williams, and Antje Traue will co-star when the film finally does arrive.
