Lindsay Lohan May Join Ben Affleck's 'Live By Night'
So has Lindsay Lohan finally turned another corner in her rocky career? The once-promising young actress has been little more than tabloid fodder over the last few years, and producers have been quick to use her fall from grace as a marketing tool rather than as a legitimate opportunity for her to bounce back. Of course she hasn't helped herself any by frequently falling back into her personal demons, but lately it seems like she may be making a real effort. She recently starred in the attention-grabbing Liz & Dick, has Paul Schrader's The Canyons opening this week, and will be working with none other than Oprah Winfrey on a docu-series chronicling her comeback. And hey, maybe Hollywood has taken notice, because her name just surfaced for Ben Affleck's next directorial effort.
A story over at Showbiz411 says that Lohan is close to signing on to Live By Night, Affleck's adaptation of Dennis Lehane's crime novel, set in roaring 1920s Boston. The Prohibition-era tale centers on Joe Coughlin, the son of a prominent police captain, who turns his back on the law and climbs to the top of organized crime. Affleck will also be starring, and if she does sign on Lohan could take the role of Emma, a tough waitress who gets between the two male leads.
The big question is whether or not a major studio would take the gamble on the mercurial Lohan, whose actions on the set of The Canyons were questionable at best. Considering the problems she's had arriving to set on time and completing the work without distractions, she may not even be insurable right now. Lohan gets out of 90-day rehab this Saturday, and we'll see then how all of this develops. Filming on Live By Night begins next year after Affleck wraps on David Ficher's Gone Girl.
