New Posters for 'Riddick', 'Despicable Me 2', 'Rush', 'Pacific Rim', and More

"Survival is his revenge". While the Internet waits with baited breath for word on Vin Diesel's meeting with Marvel, the brawny actor is also busy getting the word out on Riddick, the third film in his Chronicles of Riddick series. The latest in a string of one-sheets is a sun scorched image of the titular Furyan, stranded on a dangerous planet from which there is no escape other than to alert his many enemies. Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, and Karl Urban co-star when Riddick opens on September 6th.

Despicable Me 2 goes a long way in establishing that Gru's minions aren't just a chaotic yellow mass of hilarious drones. They actually have names and distinct individual personalities. The latest batch of posters hammers that idea home, and it's likely these will be the Minions leading their self-titled movie coming in December 2014. In Despicable Me 2, opening on July 3rd, they help Gru stop a new villain who is using electromagnets to destroy the world. Watch out for that shady one in the French maid outfit. Something off about that guy.

A pretty dull Spanish poster has been released for Ron Howard's F-1 racing film, Rush. Why would this make anyone want to pay to see it? Trailers have been mighty impressive though, with Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl playing 1970s rivals James Hunt and Niki Lauda. Ironically, the film enters the Oscar race on September 20th.

Pacific Rim opens next week and I'm in full shutdown mode. I was there when they unveiled the first footage a year ago, and at this point I just want to see the finished product in all its spectacular glory. While they'll have a hard time matching the awesomeness of the IMAX exclusive poster, here are two new ones that are still pretty boss. One features the American Jaeger with the incredibly cool name of Gipsy Danger. The other is the hydra-esque Kaiju known as Otachi, which apparently has a category rating of '4'. I assume that means he's pretty dangerous. Pacific Rim opens on July 12th.

A new character poster has been issued for the gritty as sh*t crime thriller, Prisoners, which stars Hugh Jackman as a small town carpenter who takes the law into his own hands after the cops fail to find his kidnapped daughter. This image features co-star Jake Gyllenhaal as the slick big city detective clearly in over his head. I have this one pegged as this year's The Town, a crime film that comes out of nowhere and makes an unexpected Oscar run. Look for director Denis Villeneuve to blow up when Prisoners opens on September 20th.
