Japanese Trailer for 'Diana' Starring Naomi Watts

Given her global adoration it's no surprise that we've seen numerous international trailers for Diana, the Naomi Watts-led biopic about the late Princess of Wales. What's a little odd is that we still don't have a U.S. release date set for a film that has very clear Oscar aspirations. Perhaps the studio is strategically biding their time, swooping in to make a late season splash similar to the way Watts' disaster film The Impossible did last year. We'll see if that's the case, but for now here's another look at Diana in a new trailer.

There's a great deal of additional footage in this Japanese cut, and the focus is more on Diana's struggles with fame and finding love in the face of incredible celebrity. Naveen Andrews of Lost fame plays heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan, described by many as the love of her life, but sees their relationship strained by unending publicity and pressure from within the Royal Family. Of course Watts looks to be in top form, but this could also serve as a breakthrough role for Andrews.

Hopefully we'll hear more on the release plan for Diana soon.
