New Footage in the International Trailer for 'Captain Phillips' with Tom Hanks

After years as a fixture in the annual Oscar race, it's been some time since Tom Hanks has figured into it, not since Cast Away in 2000. That could all be about to change with the arrival Paul Greengrass' harrowing Captain Phillips, and in the latest international trailer Hanks stakes his claim for some gold.

The newest footage presents some fresh footage and also gives us a glimpse at the life of Captain Richard Phillips before his ship was hijacked by Somali pirates in 2009. Then it cuts straight into the chaos of the attack itself, and Phillips' willingness to put himself in harm's way to save his crew. Paul Greengrass' stylistic fingerprints are all over the place, capturing the same grounded, real-life intensity we've seen from him in United 93, Bloody Sunday, and the Bourne films.

Captain Phillips hits theaters on October 11th.
