Aaron Taylor-Johnson Finally Confirmed as Quicksilver in 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'

Oh, so you thought because Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been talking openly about playing Quicksilver in The Avengers: Age of Ultron that it was a done deal? Not hardly. His name first turned up for the role back in early summer but because of conflicts with Godzilla he never signed on the dotted line. Those problems appear to no longer be an issue.

The Wrap reports that Johnson has inked a deal to play Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver in Joss Whedon's superhero sequel. The mutant speedster, who can't be called a mutant because of Fox's X-men movies, is the brother of Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch, who will be played by his Godzilla co-star, Elizabeth Olsen. We don't know if Whedon plans to introduce them as villains first as they were in the Marvel comics but we can expect them to be a part of the team and battling Ultron at some point.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, James Spader, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, and Cobie Smulders, The Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1st 2015.
