Joseph Gordon-Levitt Calls 'Ant-Man' Rumors "Lies"
Well, the first major rumor involving Marvel's Ant-Man broke last night, with Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt said to be the final contenders for the role of Hank Pym. As expected, it didn't take long before the first official response, and it was a swift denial by Gordon-Levitt himself.
French site Allocine caught up with JGL while he was doing press for his hit directorial debut, Don Jon, and he was pretty straight-forward about knocking the rumors down. Here are his comments translated into English...
Gordon-Levitt: "There are always rumors. I talk a lot about my future projects, so if you haven't heard me talk about it, means it's nothing but a rumor. People like to write about [rumors]."
In Variety's piece from yesterday they noted that both actors needed to meet with Marvel and Edgar Wright one more time before a decision was made, but JGL called any talk of him passing any auditions "lies". So much for that.
This pretty much calls into question all of yesterday's story, and probably has more than a few fans disappointed. Then again, Marvel negotiations tend to take many different twists and turns, so who knows how this will shake out in the end. There's plenty of time to figure it out as Ant-Man doesn't open until July 31st 2015.
