Ralph Fiennes is Charles Dickens in First Trailer for 'The Invisible Woman'

Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers the world has ever know, able to bring compelling human drama to life on the printed page in the form of numerous unquestioned classics. But he also had a great deal of drama to deal with in his own life, and it's that aspect of his story that Ralph Fiennes is bringing to the screen in The Invisible Woman.

Fiennes directs and stars as the world-renowned author who, at the height of his success, grew weary of his wife and embarked on an affair with Nelly Ternan (Felicity Jones), an admirer and intellectual equal. The first trailer has arrived and it suggests a passionate, if occasionally stodgy period drama that will have numerous stellar performances. In fact, there has been some potential Oscar talk swirling around Fiennes and Jones ever since the film played at Venice, Toronto, and Telluride.

Also starring Tom Hollander and Kristin Scott Thomas, The Invisible Woman opens Christmas Day.
