Samuel L. Jackson Confirms Elizabeth Olsen for 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'
Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron is still a long ways off, but we've seen them start the process of filling out the new additions to the cast. Ever since Joss Whedon began talking up the presence of Avengers siblings Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, we've seen a few names attached to the roles. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been chatty enough that we can reasonably expect him to play Quicksilver, while Saoirse Ronan was briefly set for Scarlet Witch. When she dropped out it was Elizabeth Olsen who emerged as the frontrunner, and while nothing has been confirmed by Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson has taken upon himself to do it.
While talking to The Wall Street Journal about Agents of SHIELD and other Marvel projects, Jackson revealed that Olsen is on board, although he doesn't seem to know what she's doing....
“I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.”
His lack of knowledge on her role is a bit of a concern, but this is as solid a confirmation as we're likely going to get for some time. Olsen is going to be pretty hard to miss over the next few weeks, appearing alongside Daniel Radcliffe in Kill Your Darlings, then starring in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake. She'll then join Taylor-Johnson for Godzilla, meaning they should have a pretty decent chemistry by the time The Avengers: Age of Ultron begins filming.
