Saoirse Ronan, Kate Mara, Kit Harington, and More Up for 'Fantastic Four' Roles

Up to this point, the names we've heard rumored for Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot have been surprising, to say the least.  Girls star Allison Williams and Fruitvale Station's Michael B. Jordan were the first two mentioned, followed shortly thereafter by The Spectacular Now's Miles Teller.  While nobody has been confirmed just yet, the list of contenders has just grown significantly.

Saorise Ronan, Kate Mara, and Margot Robbie are said to be testing for the role of Susan Storm, while Jack O'Connell and Kit Harington are joining Teller in vying for the part of Reed Richards. As of now, Jordan is still the only one in line for Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch. Whether Williams remains in the picture or not is unclear.

Ronan has been circling a number of franchises of late, recently turning town a part in The Avengers: Age of Ultron and revealing she's read for Star Wars: Episode VII. Robbie has a prime role in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street, while Mara will be in Christopher Nolan's Transcendence. O'Connell is red hot right now after landing the lead in Angelina Jolie's Unbroken, but his schedule could keep him out of the running. Harington has been dividing his time between HBO's Game of Thrones and the big screen, and will star in Paul W.S. Anderson's Pompeii.

Whoever Fox decides to go with, we're guaranteed a very different sort of Fantastic Four than we saw before (Ioan Gruffudd for chrissakes!!!!), which is a step in the right direction. Simon Kinberg is rewriting the script now so expect some decisions to be made soon, and then we can see how it all works out on March 6th 2015. [Variety]
