First Look at Salma Hayek in Assassin Flick 'Everly'

Salma Hayek is a badass. We already know this, right? Which is why she made the perfect choice to star in Everly, an action film that has been on the radars of many a cinephile since it was announced more than two years ago, back when it looked very different. At the time it was Kate Hudson in the title role, and while I have no doubts she would have brought something different to the role, few can make kicking butt look as good as Hayek does.

The first image of Hayek in Everly has been released, and you probably don't want to be on the business end of that gun she's holding. Directed by Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom) and based on Yale Hannon's Black List-approved script, the film follows a hard luck woman who must fight off wave after wave of Japanese assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss. The majority of the action takes place in her apartment so it'll be interesting to see how Lynch mixes things up.

Everly should hit theaters some time in 2014, and Hayek is excited for everybody to see it...

Hayek: "You’ve never seen me like this before. And I love it. Because you really see a transformation in this character that’s noticeable and shocking. I become a badass."

See? Told you she was a badass.  [USA Today]
