Kristen Stewart Joins Indie Drama 'Anesthesia'

Although she may have spent years up to her neck in Twilight madness, and recently starred in the $300M-grossing Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart never really left her indie roots behind. She's always found time for films such as The Yellow Handkerchief, Welcome to the Rileys, and The Cake Eaters, generally quieting those who think she should be defined by Bella Swan forever. And now she's headed back to the art house circuit for Anesthesia, the latest directorial effort by character actor Tim Blake Nelson.

Stewart will take a small role in the film, which will mark Nelson's follow-up to 2009's Leaves of Grass. He also penned the screenplay, which follows "a group of New Yorkers whose lives are touched by the same philosophy professor."  No word on what Stewart's part will entail, but she's only scheduled to be on the NYC set for a few days.

Stewart recently wrapped on the Guantanamo Bay film, Camp X-Ray, and has completed Olivier Assayas' Sils Maria with Chloe Moretz and Juliette Binoche.
