'XXX' and 'Riddick' Sequels on the Way from Vin Diesel?

Vin Diesel fought long and hard to get Riddick off the ground, putting in much of his own money and battling Universal to keep the R-rating. And mostly it paid off, as the $38M film earned about $100M worldwide, most of it from overseas, and has apparently become the #1 selling DVD in America.  And because of that, Diesel says Universal wants to move forward on a fourth chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick saga....

Diesel: "I'm just excited, and happy, and I'm shouting out to you guys to say thank you. Universal just called me and told me Riddick is number one on the DVD charts. There's no way Riddick would have been made without you guys. You know that. and you guys have been a part of our page since 2012 and remember how arduous a road it was to get the movie made, and to make it rated 'R,' and to do it with such a low budget. It's a win for all of us and I really, really thank you so much. Yeah, I'm excited, and of course, Universal also says they want to develop the next one."

Diesel has another franchise that many may have forgotten about, and that's XXX, which he began back in 2001. He dropped out of the sequel: XXX: State of the Union, handing the lead role over to Ice Cube. The action flick flopped and plans have been developing quietly over the years for Diesel to return in sequel titled XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. Now Diesel has taken to his Facebook page to reveal the progress on the film's script.

Diesel: "As you know, the new 'XXX' script finally comes in next month, and just this morning people are suggesting Katy Perry as the new X girl. /smile"

Speaking of Katy Perry, Diesel seems to be quite the fan. And even if Perry doesn't join the XXX sequel, she'll always have these videos of him dancing to her music.
