Brenton Thwaites to Join 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'

While we await confirmation on Javier Bardem as the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales villain, another new face is ready to set sail. A couple of weeks ago a shortlist of names emerged for a brand new role in the franchise's fifth film. At the top of that list were Brenton Thwaites, Ansel Elgort, and Taron Egerton, but it looks like Thwaites has won the job.

According to The Wrap, Thwaites is in talks to take the coveted role of Henry, a British soldier who gets wrapped up in the sea-faring exploits of Jack Sparrow, played once again by Johnny Depp. This isn't Thwaites' first crack at a major studio tentpole as he appeared earlier this year in The Giver, and had a role in Maleficent opposite Angelina Jolie.

Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales opens July 7th 2017.
