Channing Tatum to Make Directorial Debut with 'Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock'

Already with a couple of screenwriting and producing credits to his name with both Magic Mike movies and the ensemble comedy 10 Years, Channing Tatum has been inching his way to becoming a director for some time. For a time it looked like he would direct Magic Mike XXL before that job went to Greg Jacobs, but Tatum has found a more than suitable project in an adaptation of a book by Silver Linings Playbook author, Matthew Quick.

Tatum and his frequent collaborator Reid Carolin will co-direct Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock, which James Ponsoldt (Smashed, The Spectacular Now) wrote an early version of the script for. A new writer will take over to tell the story of "a troubled high schooler who plans to kill his best friend and then himself."

This one seems to be pretty early on and there's still a chance Tatum could take a roll. It's another interesting step in his career taking on some heavy material.  [THR]
