Let's talk about Jessica Chastain for a moment because she's having arguably her best year yet; even better than when Zero Dark Thirty and The Help earned her Oscar nominations. This year we've already had a chance to see her in the grounded drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (which is technically three separate movies!), Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, and soon she'll star in JC Chandor's anticipated crime drama A Most Violent Year. And yet that's not all, and those who really dig Chastain will also want to seek out her performance in Miss Julie.
Directed by Liv Ullmann and co-starring Colin Farrell, the film has Chastain as an aristocrat's daughter who enters a torrid, if mutually loathsome affair with her valet. The power struggle, one fueled by equal parts hatred and lust, threatens to consume them both. A new U.S. trailer for the film has arrived and the passion between Chastain and Farrell is palpable, and it looks like commanding performances from both.
Miss Julie opens December 5th.
