Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is shaping up to have a ton of new shipmates. Only Johnny Depp is confirmed to return as Jack Sparrow, because obviously, while we've seen Javier Bardem come aboard as the villain and Brenton Thwaites join in the sought-after role of Henry. Now a list of young actresses up for the female lead has emerged, and it's a mix of rising stars and those looking for their first major film.
The two biggest names Disney plans on testing are Gabriella Wilde of the Carrie and Endless Love remakes; and Kaya Scodelario who starred in The Maze Runner and Wuthering Heights. Also on the list are Alexandra Dowling (Hammer of the Gods), Jenna Thiam (The Returned), and Lucy Boynton (Miss Potter). They'll be reading with Thwaites some next next week as the character is expected to be a love interest for Henry, and they'll want to check to see who he matches up with best.
Details on the plot remain slim but it looks like Bardem will play Captain Brand, a ghost looking for revenge against Sparrow who he blames for his brother's death. Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush have been rumored to return, as well.
