Universal scoops up Paul Feig, Judd Apatow comedy

Following the phenomenal and unexpected success of Bridesmaids(over $108M), Paul Feig can pretty much write his own ticket. Heck, everyone remotely involved with the film can do the same, and studios will be bending over backwards to make sure they don't miss out on another possible hit. Such is the case right with Universal, who just bought a pitch from Feig for a new, as yet untitled comedy.

Feig will direct, and his buddy Judd Apatow will be back to produce. No details on the film are known at this time, but it's described as being "unconventional", and will likely reunite some of the Bridesmaids cast. This will likely be the next project on Feig's list.

Last month we learned that Feig had an idea for a romantic comedy that would see Bridesmaids breakout star, Melissa McCarthy, as the lead. It's unclear whether or not this is that film, but I damn sure hope it is. More McCarthy now.
