New clips from Damsels in Distress, starring Greta Gerwig and Analeigh Tipton

Thirteen years have passed since Whit Stillman caught my attention with his sorta love letter to the 1980s club scene, The Last Days of Disco. I remember watching it at the time and thinking "Who is this Kate Beckinsale chick. Lordy she's hot." But more than that, I loved how how his dialogue sounded so natural, as if you weren't even watching a film but real people and all their various issues. Now Stillman is back with his new comedy, Damsels in Distress, and he's bringing my girl Greta Gerwig along for the ride.

The plot is a little out there, but as you'll see from these clips it fits with the off balance tone. Gerwig stars as one of a trio of college girls who help depressed students using a variety of dance numbers and....good hygiene? Say what?? Analeigh Tipton(Crazy Stupid Love), Adam Brody, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Alia Shawkat, and Aubrey Plaza co-star. The film will be heading to the Venice Film Festival, and will eventually see release through Sony Pictures, but no firm date has been announced.
