Cobie Smulders brews 'Starbuck' with Vince Vaughn and Chris Pratt
It's shaping up to be a huge year for Cobie Smulders, and I don't think it's unfair to say she's on the way to overtaking Jason Segel as How I Met Your Mother's top crossover star. She's already an integral piece to The Avengers franchise as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, and now she'll be starring in a remake of Canada's top grossing comedy from last year.
Variety reports that Smulders is in talks to join the American remake of Starbuck, the Canadian comedy about a well-meaning middle-aged loser who discovers that the sperm he donated years ago as a young man has produced 533 children, most of whom are coming looking for their daddy. Vince Vaughn is taking the lead role, with Chris Pratt as his lawyer and best buddy. Smulders will play Vaughn's pregnant girlfriend, and she's got some big shoes to fill because Julie Le Breton was fantastic in the role before.
Ken Scott, who wrote and directed the original version, is back at it again for the remake. You can check out my review of Starbuck here.
