Sure Shots: Stephen Gyllenhaal; Josh Holloway; Abbie Cornish
* Stephen Gyllenhaal(Grassroots) will help to celebrate the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination by writing and directing a new film about that tragic day, albeit from a different perspective than we normally get. He'll direct The Kennedy Detail, based on the book by ex-Secret Service agent Gerald Blaine and journalist Lisa McCubbin, which chronicles the event from the point-of-view of the men assigned to protect the President. It'll go in depth on what happened before and after, and explain some of the reasons behind the decisions they made, like...y'know, having that open air car that left JFK so exposed and all. The hope is to have the film completed by November of next year. [Deadline]
* After watching David Ayer's End of Watch earlier today, I'm really getting excited to see what he can do with his next cop thriller, Ten. The latest addition to the extensive cast is Josh Holloway, fresh off his rather brief turn in Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol. The former Lost star joins Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Malin Akerman, Mireille Enos, Dawn Olivieri, Terrence Howard, Joe Manganiello, and Olivia Williams in the film centering on a DEA Task Force that robs a drug cartel and thinks they got away with it, only to start getting picked off one-by-one. [Variety]
* Fellini Black and White is already one of my most anticipated films just because of the way it totally blurs the truth and explores a weird time in the legendary director's life. Now there's another reason to get excited for it as Abbie Cornish has joined the film, which deals with how in 1957 Federico Fellini turned in Los Angeles to attend the Academy Awards, only to disappear for a couple of days. The story, which is directed by Henry Bromwell based on his own script, imagines all types of strange crap that happened while Fellini was missing. Such as he becomes infatuated with the jazz music and surf scene, and falls in love with a veterinarian, played by Cornish. Meanwhile his wife hooks up with Ricky Nelson at some point. Told you it was strange. Wagner Moura(Elite Squad) will play Fellini, with Nina Arianda, William H. Macy, Peter Dinklage, and Terrence Howard co-starring. [Deadline]
