New clip from animated 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns'

Late last month we were treated to the trailer for the animated version of Frank Miller's seminal Batman story, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. The 1986 limited series served as a basis for much of what Christopher Nolan pulled off in The Dark Knight Rises, and based on the footage we saw much of the grittier elements and dark atmosphere remained intact.

Warner Bros. has now released a clip from the film, which is divided into two-halves and deals with an aging Bruce Wayne, pulled back into the Batman suit after nearly a decade when Two-Face shows up and starts causing trouble. Batman also squares off against an ultra-violent vigilante group known as The Mutants, and there's also a female Robin in the mix who becomes his new sidekick. This scene actually isn't all that great, mostly focusing on a a pair of cops in a car chase who are stunned by lightning-backed entrance by the Caped Crusader.

With Peter Weller as the voice of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns hits store shelves on September 25th. Check out the clip below....
