First trailer for Dreamworks' prehistoric animated comedy 'The Croods'

Between the $600M hauled in by Madagascar 3 and the likely success of Rise of the Guardians, Dreamworks seems poised for another strong animated year. Next year is a little bit more up in the air, although they have a handful of potentially promising animated offerings on the table. The one that they're hoping will be the biggest is the family-oriented prehistoric comedy, The Croods.

The first trailer for the film has been released, and it's certainly a gorgeous piece of work. That's to be expected considering it was co-directed by Chris Sanders(How to Train Your Dragon) teaming here with Kirk DeMicco(Space Chimps). Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Cloris Leachman, Catherine Keener, and Bill Duke voice the Croogs, a family of neanderthals who embark on a grand adventure when they are forced to leave the safety of their cave. Ryan Reynolds voices Guy, the hunky nomad that Stone's character gets the hots for.  The Croods opens next year on March 22nd. Check out the trailer below....
