Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez snooze their way through the new 'Parker' trailer

Wow. Not even Jason Statham can be bothered to look excited introducing us to the trailer for Parker, his latest film where he stretches himself by playing a bad ass with a personal moral code. Hm? That's not stretching himself at all, you say? Actually, I'm a huge Statham fan and generally love his movies, but Parker has "boring" written all over it, and the performances glimpsed in this trailer only back that up.

Parker is based on the popular character created by Donald Westlake, adapted for the big screen in movies like Payback and Point Blank. A criminal and thief with a violent reputation, Parker seeks revenge against a hammy Michael Chiklis for double-crossing him after a job. We get to see Statham don a silly wig that reminds me in the worst way of his role in London, while also trying on a shaky southern accent and cowboy hat. At least there appears to be some realism as Jennifer Lopez turns up and immediately recognizes him as a phony. Hooray for logic! Oh, and Nick Nolte shows up to play "telephone" for a spell. Nobody seems particularly interested in anything that's going on.

This really doesn't look very good, but to be fair most Statham movies don't and turn out to be perfectly fine. Fingers crossed. Taylor Hackford is directing Parker for release on January 25th. Check out the trailer below....[Machinima]
