Kevin Costner confirmed for Luc Besson's untitled action thriller; unfortunately so is McG

Earlier this year we learned of a handful of new projects led by Luc Besson and his EuropaCorp studios. One of those that was said very early in development at the time was Three Days to Kill, which Besson would co-write with Adi Hasek(From Paris with Love) and follow a dying assassin who goes on one final mission while trying to reconcile with his daughter. Then this summer Kevin Costner's name emerged as a potential star, along with McG as a possible director. Looks like everything worked out as both are now confirmed for the newly untitled film.

So a bit of mixed emotions here as Costner has been making one heck of a comeback over the last few months, signing on for Paramount's Jack Ryan franchise, as well as appearing in next year's Man of Steel. McG, on the other hand, doesn't inspire a lot of confidence although I must say his sensibilities are very much in line with Besson's.

It's unclear when filming will begin, but a full synopsis has been revealed which fleshes out the plot a little bit. Check that out below....

PLOT: The thriller explores a story about Secret Service Agent Ethan Runner who discovers he's dying and decides to retire in order to reconnect with his estranged family. But when the Secret Service offers him access to an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment, he soon finds himself trying to juggle his family, his mission, and the drug's hallucinatory side-effects.
