S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series character descriptions revealed

Joss Whedon is set to write and maybe direct the pilot to a S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, which has the potential to be his first real small screen hit since Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Save your emails, folks!  I know all of the other cult favorite stuff he's done, but as much as we love them they weren't ratings winners. This could be different, though, as the show will be set right in the thick of Marvel's Cinematic Universe, which Whedon is in total control over, and may tie-in to future movies.

TV Line has what they say is a list of the major characters who will be leading the show, and it looks like Whedon is continuing his trend of having strong females at the center of the series.......

SKYE: This late-20s woman sounds like a dream: fun, smart, caring and confident – with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm.

AGENT GRANT WARD: Quite the physical specimen and “cool under fire,” he sometimes botches interpersonal relations. He’s a quiet one with a bit of a temper, but he’s the kind of guy that grows on you.

AGENT ALTHEA RICE: Also known as “The Calvary,” this hard-core soldier has crazy skills when it comes to weapons and being a pilot. But her experiences have left her very quiet and a little damaged.

AGENT LEO FITZ and AGENT JEMMA SIMMONS: These two came through training together and still choose to spend most of their time in each other’s company. Their sibling-like relationship is reinforced by their shared nerd tendencies – she deals with biology and chemistry, he’s a whiz at the technical side of weaponry.

You'll notice that none of them are any of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents we're familiar with from the movies, but that doesn't mean we won't see any recognizable faces. Whedon can be pretty tricky when it comes to information like this leaking out, so don't be surprised if this list doesn't prove to be 100% accurate. Does any one think Marvel would let something like this slip so easily? Me neither.
