Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, Emilia Clarke and more testing for 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'; Black Widow to appear

However things ultimately shake out,  one thing is for certain and it's that Captain America won't be sleeping alone under those star-spangled bedsheets for much longer. Deadline has what is supposedly the list of lovely ladies who will be testing to play Chris Evans' love interest in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and it's an assemblage of some of the hottest female talent working today. I don't think Evans will be complaining one bit.

Alison Brie(Community), Imogen Poots(Fright Night), Teresa Palmer(Take Me Home Tonight), Emilia Clarke(Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones), and Jessica Brown-Findlay(Downtown Abbey) are reportedly up for the role which still hasn't been revealed. I assume it will be Sharon Carter, the agent niece of Cap's WWII love, Peggy Carter(Hayley Atwell). But I could be wrong. We'll just have to wait and see. Poots' name came up back in August when she was mentioned along with Anna Kendrick and Felicity Jones for the female lead, so who knows if those two are still in the mix. For that matter, who knows if Poots' continued presence makes her the frontrunner?

One of Cap's most enduring relationships in the comics happens to be with Black Widow, with both as government agents fighting for their respective countries. The two have a long history, and Marvel is keen to play that up as Variety confirms Scarlett Johansson will be appearing in the film. I guess since Marvel decided not to use one of her contractually mandated appearances on Iron Man 3, the next best thing is Captain America.

Palmer is my favorite of the bunch, as she's shown me a lot in I Am Number Four and Take Me Home Tonight. But part of me really wants to see what Clarke can do in a bigger venue. There's no word if this would be the sort of role we'd see in multiple films, but I'm guessing it will be.  Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens on April 4th 2014.
